Pump test bench

Pumps, motors and the test bench

Pump and motor repair with an in-house test bench for pump configurations, and parts for makers from Borg-Warner to Vickers.

Chapter 01

Reading a tired pump before it quits

Worn gear and vane pumps rarely die without warning. You hear a whine that was not there last month, the oil runs hotter than it used to, a cylinder that once moved briskly now creeps, or a motor weeps at the shaft seal. Those are the symptoms that belong on the counter at 116 Wolcott Rd in Terryville, ideally before the machine is down for the day.

Dan Patterson, in a Google review, wrote “The help I got from Joey was top notch. Would highly recommend c&c hydra for all your pump, and hoses.” That matches how most pump jobs start here: someone walks in with a part and a question, and the person behind the counter works out what the machine needs.

The test bench where pump configurations get checked

Our repair page says it in one line: we have an in-house test bench “where we test pump configurations.” A bench matters because a pump on a table tells you little. Bolted down and plumbed with gauges and test hoses, it shows what it does under flow and pressure, which is a better answer than a guess made by eye.

The same repair desk handles hydraulic cylinders, motors and pumps, and heavy equipment control valves. A sticky valve spool and a worn pump produce nearly the same complaint from the operator's seat, so having both on one bench saves a round of swapping parts. Call (860) 582-0308 and describe what the machine is doing.

Chapter 03

Thirty-four pump makers, Borg-Warner to White

The makers on our list: Borg-Warner, Char-Lynn, Chelsea, Commercial, Continental, Cross, Dan Foss, Daybrook, Delta, Dennison, Dowty, Dyna Power, Dynex, Eaton, Galion, Gresen, Hydreco, M.T.E., Meyers, Monarch, Parker-Hannifin, Perfection, Permco, Prince, Racine, Ross (TRW), Staffa, Stone, Sundstrand, Tyrone, Vickers, Webster, Whit Hyp IC, White (Rollar Stator). Plenty of older equipment still runs on these names, so if your pump carries one of them, the counter is the right first stop.

Beyond the hydraulic units, our misc parts list covers other pumps too: fuel pumps, electrical and mechanical, grease cartridge pumps, coolant, diaphragm, lubricant, vane and variable-displacement pumps. Not sure we carry yours? Call us today and we'll check if we have it, 860-582-0308. Gear for the rest of the circuit lives with our cylinder repair and our hoses and fittings.
